Getting Started
There are so many resources on this website that it may seem a bit overwhelming at first. Don't worry! I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have about this site. Send me a message and I will reply as soon as possible.
Here is some information to get you started:
1. Sign up! By signing up on Illumination Learning, you will be kept up to date with any new resources available on the site. You will also be able to connect with others who have similar interests to you.
2. Invite Others! The more people who interact on this website, the more useful it will become to all of us. I will certainly be contributing to the resources on this site but this is all about a community effort. We have the opportunity to help each other foster the education of our Orthodox Christian faith with our youth and adults in a way that hasn't been available to previous generations. A parish on one side of the country can now share its successes with a parish on the opposite side of the country. What a phenomenal opportunity for us all!
3. Join or Start a Group! The groups are available so we can connect with others who have similar interests to our own. We can ask questions, answer questions, suggest resources, offer resources, and support each other. Don't be afraid to be the first person to post either!
4. Get a Badge! If you have a website or blog, please post an Illumination Learning badge on your site if you'd like to help bring people here. The badge is available on the right side column of this site. Click on "Get Badge" and copy the code onto your website or blog. The badge will appear there until you remove it. Any visitor to your site will be able to click on the badge and be directed here.
5. Become a Facebook Fan! Receive updates via facebook by becoming a fan!
6. Watch/Upload Videos! Upload a video you've made pertaining to Orthodox Christian education. Watch videos others have uploaded to the site and also watch YouTube videos containing "Orthodox Christian" in the title on this site.
7. Post an Event! Do you have a retreat, conference, convention, or meeting at your parish and want to invite others to it? Post an invite to the event on Illumination Learning! People can reply via the invite and you can advertise free of charge to others across the web. (Please refrain from posting invites to events such as church festivals. The nature of this website is to focus on Orthodox Christian education.) All events will be approved by Illumination Learning before being posted on this website.
8. Write an Article on the Illumination Learning Blog! The blog is open to all members of Illumination Learning.
9. Seek Out Others with the Same Interests! Are you a homeschool family looking for other homeschool families? Are you a youth director looking to find advice from other youth directors? Here's your place! Look through the members on the site. A brief summary of all the members interests and a little bit about them is available on their personal member page. Leave them a message or check out the resources they've posted. You can also check out their personal blog and webaddress if they've posted one.
10. Advertise on Illumination Learning! Do you think the readers on Illumination Learning would be interested in your products/services? Contact me to inquire about advertising on this site!
